The Morning Alms Round to the monks is a nice culture and affects Thai people since the past.  Unfortunately, this culture becomes less from Thai societies because of the economics and social competitions in material and technology.  With the objectives to inspire the Four Buddhist Communities to keep this nice culture to be strengthen in their communities and to be the valuable Dhamma legacy for the next generations, the Most Ven. Phrathepyanmahamuni (Luang Phaw Dhammajayo), the abbot of Dhammakaya Temple, initiated to establish the “Morning Alms Offering to 500,000 Monks from all temples in 76 provinces nationwide Project” with 40 party organizations in 2008.  From this project, there were over 245 offerings and 500,222 monks and novices were the merit fields.  This project has woken all congregations because there had never been in Thailand.

Moreover, this Morning Alms Round Project has brought the Great Merit Pictures which come from the harmony of the monks across the country because the committees take rice, dried food, and alms from this project to help the monks in the 4 unrest Southern provinces who are troubling from the unrest situation and the victims from disasters all over the country especially from the recently flood disaster in Thailand last year.

The Morning Alms Offering to 1,000,000 monks from all temples in 77 provinces nationwide Project is not only the pioneer project but also the model project which is ready for development to be an important culture for Buddhists in the future because alms offering is the first step of the basic moral cultivation which can lead into the life quality development in all classes of societies.  It is our important duty as the Buddhists to support Buddhism thrive more and more.
