Rains-Retreat for the monks was promulgated by the Lord Buddha and it allowed buddhist monks to dwell permanently at a suitable place throughout the rainy season.
เราอธิบายได้ว่าเทศกาลเข้าพรรษาหรือการจำพรรษาของพระภิกษุบัญญัติโดยพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าทรงอนุญาตให้พระภิกษุทั้งหลายจำพรรษาตลอดไตรมาสในอารามแห่งใดแห่งหนึ่งตลอดฤดูฝนค่ะซึ่งคำว่า Dwell permanently การอยู่อาศัยอย่างถาวร หรือ เป็นประจำ
The Rains-Entry Day is the first day of the Rains-Retreat. Starting from the first day the eighth waning moon until the fifteenth day of the eleventh waxing moon for a period of three months.
วันเข้าพรรษาคือวันแรกแห่งการจำพรรษาซึ่งเริ่มตั้งแต่ The 1st day of the 8th waning moon หมายถึง แรม 1 ค่ำ เดือน 8 จนถึง The 15th day of the 11th waxing moon หมายถึง ขึ้น 15 ค่ำ เดือน 11 รวมเวลา 3 เดือนเต็ม
ทำไมพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าจึงทรงบัญญัติให้มีการจำพรรษา
Before the Lord Buddha promulgated the Rains-Retreat for the monks, monks went on pilgrimages all throughout the cold, hot, and rainy seasons.
ก่อนที่พระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าทรงบัญญัติการจำพรรษาขึ้นมานั้นพระภิกษุทั้งหลายเที่ยวจาริกไปตลอดฤดูหนาว ฤดูร้อน และฤดูฝน คำว่า Pilgrimage หมายถึง จาริกแสวงบุญ
But during the rainy season, the pilgrimage caused the inhabitants to criticize and find faults with all the monks for causing damage to the vegetation and killing so many small animals.
ในฤดูฝนนี้เองการจาริกแสวงบุญของพระภิกษุทำให้ชาวเมืองวิพากษ์วิจารณ์เพ่งโทษ ติเตียน โดยเหตุที่พระภิกษุสงฆ์ เหยียบย่ำ พืชพันธุ์ต่างๆ และเบียดเบียน ชีวิตสัตว์เล็กสัตว์น้อย เป็นจำนวนมากค่ะ
That is why the Lord buddha considerecd the situation and allowed monks to dwell in one place during the rainy season.
นี้ก็เป็นเหตุผลค่ะว่าทำไมพระพุทธเจ้าจึงพิจารณาและอนุญาตให้พระภิกษุทั้งหลายจำพรรษาตลอดฤดูฝนค่ะ

That's so great, but the important thing is when we can improve ourselves, we should continue to do that thing even after the Rains-Retreat ends
