CASE STUDY
Forced to Marry

I came to make merit at the temple in 2541 B.C. Shortly after that I received a special merit assignment. I was delighted because I was the first person in the group of people to help found the Osaka Meditation Center in Japan. At the beginning, I helped the temple staff contacted people for lodging and found sponsors to support the center. I put all my effort into it more so than I do my own job. The monks at the Tokyo Meditation Center trusted me to organize the meritorious activities at the Osaka center. The activities included organizing the 1st Dhammakaya youth camp and hosting “Puja Kow Phra” every month. In addition, I also casted the dhammakaya images and engraved them with my name and my family members’ names. I became the vice president of every merit-making occasion since 2541 B.C. This is because I realized that life is short and we must gather as much merits as we can before we die.

I would like to ask for your kindness to dream in dream for me.

My mother was born in Thailand but moved to mainland China when she was 5-6 years old. My grandfather failed to pay past income tax return in Thailand. So, he took my grandmother and mother back to China to stay with my great grandmother. My great grandmother’s family was very wealthy. Her dining table was very long just like the ones we see in the Chinese movie. She, like many other Chinese, only wanted sons and grandsons to carry on the family’s name. So later when my grandmother gave births to her daughters, their mouth were stuffed with ashes and left to die. Fortunately, my mother survived because she was the first child and was born in Thailand. When my mother turned 18, my grandfather arranged for her to marry my father who lived in Thailand, but my mother refused. So, my grandfather tied her hands and feet and boarded her on a ship to Thailand to wed my father.

After she married with my father, her lifestyle changed. She used to live a comfortable life, but now she had to face many obstacles. She did not know how to cook and was often fooled by my father’s younger sister. She taught my mother to fry an egg by heating the pan at very high temperature and then pour water  instead of oil into it. The pan broke and the mother-in-law scolded my mother for breaking the pan.

Later on when my mother started to have children, she knew she did not want to have many. When she had the 4th child, she took a medicine to abort it. She was successfully in aborting one. However, she ended up having 8 children. I am her 6th child.
My mother liked to worship baby ghosts (ku marn tong). She always worshiped 3 baby ghosts with Thai desserts. When I was young, right after my mother placed the desserts on the shelves for the ghosts, I would quickly grab and ate the dessert before the ghosts could.  At night, I often felt as if the 3 baby ghosts came to open my mouth and pushed at my stomach. I always get up grasping for air. My youngest brother ate the baby ghosts’ desserts once and said he felt someone choked his neck right away. My mother liked to ask the baby ghosts for lottery numbers. She would buy the numbers and often won.

In January of 2548 B.C., my mother fell and hit her head on the floor. She had a brain concussion and needed a surgery. After the operation, she seemed to be doing better. So, the children took her back home. But after that, her chest felt tight. On the way to the hospital, her heart stopped beating. The doctor performed a CPR and gave her shots. She survived until the next morning. I was living in Japan the day that she died. I called my called my brother and asked him to place the phone next to my mother’s ear. Although she was unconscious, I told her to recall all the merits I had made for her such as the casting of the Dhammakaya image and the making the crystal pillar. After my mom’s passing, I made a robe offering in year 2548 in her name to dedicate the merit to her. I miss her a lot.

My paternal grandmother had many children and grandchildren. All moved out and lived separately to pursue their own work including me. I didn’t keep in touch with her. During my first year of school in Japan, I dreamed that my family had a funeral for her. I called home and found out that she had passed away a month ago. In early 2541 B.C., I dreamed that she was wearing a white dress and was walking behind me. I told her I made a Dhammakya image for her. She placed held her palms up at the middle of her chest, smiled and disappeared.

As for myself, when I was young I was very naughty from the time I could remember. I have brushed with many near death incidents. For example, I crawled into the water when our house was flooded. I did not die because someone saved me in time. When I was 2, I had diphtheria and had a surgery. I could not breathe and had convulsion due to the phlegm in my windpipe. The doctor said I might have not lived, if I arrived a little later.  To the present day, I still have allergy for the past 11 years.

When I was 22, I went to study in Japan and met my husband while we were still in school. We got married after we graduated and founded a job. In 2541 B.C., I had a chance to read a journal from the Meditation Center in Tokyo and wanted to make a Dhammakaya image. I contacted the center and sent donation to the Tokyo Meditation Center regularly and have become one of Phra Dhamma’s followers and eventually became a pioneer of the Osaka Meditation Center.

My husband is Japanese and a manger of a company that produces door remote controller. My husband is a fun loving guy and gets along well with people. In the winter, he always has back pain from standing or sitting too long. Sometimes, he cannot walk because of this pain. I have tried to invite him to make merit with the team but he still doesn’t understand it. He drinks and smokes everyday. Even though he does not want to come make merit, I often use his money to make the merit with the center. After making a merit, I will tell him to say “sathu” to rejoice the merit. He always does it in a playful way. I would like for him to quit smoking and drinking and join the team to make merits soon.

My sister-in-law, who is the wife to my second brother, liked to speak abruptly and often do not think before speaking. When she found out that I went to make merit at the Dhammakaya temple, she complained about it. Afterwards, she had an ovarian cancer with a swollen stomach. The doctor had to drain several liters of liquid from it.  My niece would turn on the Dhammakaya channel for her, but she did not pay attention. She passed away at the age of 50.

Luang Phaw's Dream

I closed my eyes, dreamed and woke up with these answers.
When you tell anybody the story like a tale, it will make anyone know more about retribution (Law of Kamma)

1.    Your mother’s sisters were killed at birth because they have committed different killing sins in their past lives. They killed animals’ babies for food. Some of them ordered to kill babies for many different reasons. As the result, those misdeeds came back and caused them to die as babies.
  • Most of them died and reborn the same way many times already. Some of them have already been reborn as human beings. Chinese baby girls were killed this way because of wrong concept that women were raised to give away. Some baby girls were killed because of the economic reason and the result of their past lives’ bad actions.

  • However, the baby boys were given good care because of the belief that sons would continue the family’s name.
  • Those Chinese sons did not committed the killing sins mentioned earlier but made merit in caring and helping trouble relatives or taking good cares of their parents. Their quality of life depended on the merit of giving they made before.
  • The murderers or the persons who ordered the murder will get the same results.

2.    Your mother was not killed because she did not perform those sins.

  • Your mother worshipped the baby spirit for the lottery numbers will involve her in the circle of the black magic because this misbelieve will follow her.

  • It was real that the baby ghosts bothered you and your brother. !

3. The last moments before your mother’s passing away, she could not acknowledge anything. But she has received the merit that you dedicated to her. Her dying vision is not dull or clear. After death, she was reborn as a high-class earth-sprite in the earth-sprite village because of the merits you dedicated to her.

  • She rejoices in those merits and wants to thank you for making her become more beautiful and having food, clothes and a mansion to live in comfortably.

4.    Your mother received a royal crematory because she worshipped the triple gem and virtuous people in her past.

5.    Your mother’s hands and feet were tied and brought to marry with your father. This is because she was born in a farmer society and used to tie animals to breed. She has also prearranged her children and grandchildren’s marriages. Those bad acts manifested themselves to her in this life.

  • Your parents always fight but had 8 children together because they shared similar good deeds and bad deeds in the past.
  • There were husband and wife husband in the previous lives. When they had an argument, they wished not to be husband and wife again in the future lives but when they patched up their relationship, they vowed to be with each other again.

6.    Your mother’s children from number 4-6 were aborted by but survived because they did not have an abortion previously in their past lives. But they used to say to other people that had an abortion that “ it is good that you don’t have the problem and got rid of the burden.”

  • However, they did not give advice to the idea for an abortion.

7.    You dreamed that there was a funeral in your house and found out about your paternal grandmother’s death because you are related to her by blood. This along with your meditation merit allowed you to have a clear mind so you had that omen in your dream.

    • After death, she became a middle class earth sprite. She has moderate food, clothes, and a place to live. She really came to see you.
    • She placed her palms at her chest and smiled to rejoice the merits you have devoted to her and wanted to thank you.

    8.    Your husband had a spinal problem because in the past he was born in the village with many snakes. He liked to beat them on the backs until their backs were broken or died. He is paying off this sin now.  The merit that you use his money to make merit and he rejoicing in it will help to lighten the sin. You must be his good friend with clear mind, kind heart, smiley face and patience.

    • Furthermore, you must add his name when making merit and wish that he understands the team’s mission and come to perform good deeds together.

    9.    Your sister-in-law died of ovarian cancer because she killed animals for meals and sold them. This along with her adultery sin caused her to become a low level earth sprite. She has to live in another earth sprite’s house. She did not go to hell because of the merit you dedicated to her.

    • However, every Buddhist day, her mouth will be full of worms because of her verbal attack on you for making the merit with the team.
    • She has received all the merits that you dedicated to her.

    10.    Your niece has volunteered to organize the merit activities at the temple. This virtuous act kept her mother from going to hell. She did merit making with the team in the last Buddha eon and was a good daughter like she is in this life.

    • She came to perform good deeds with the team and wished to work with the team in her next life.

    11.    In your youth, you fell in the water many times because in the previous life you were born as a soldier and tortured enemies by pushing them into water or strangling their necks to get a secret from them.
    • This causes you to have a neck surgery and allergy. To alter it, you must accumulate every merit including giving, observing precepts, and meditating.

    • You should free caged animals and release fishes while dedicating these merits to those you have committed sin against and wish to be free from this bad retribution.

    12.    You were an army of the king who left the throne to ordain in the last Buddha eon. You were a womanizer and had many girl friends. You realized it as you got older and decided to ordain with the team. Due to old age, you were not strong enough to help the team and had made a wish to be a pioneer to help spread Buddha’s teaching and Dhammakaya knowledge.  You could see a small crystal inside. This will help you return to the Dusita heaven.

    • The merit you made from founding Pavana Temple in Osaka will give you many following possessions: good looks, good property, goodqualification, fame, wealth, happiness, and attain nivarana and Dhammakaya knowledge.
    • Your husband was a supporter of the team but not consistent. So, some life he met the team and some not. You have to be a good friend to everybody with your kind heart and patience. You should write everybody’s name in the family on the envelope when making a donation and wish for everyone to join the team.

    • This life we found each other, we should accumulate every merit with our full strength and direct our wish to Dusita heaven in the special zone of Bodhisatta and never be away for good.
