To most respected Teacher

I am a Dream in Dream kindergarten student. I joined the temple in 1983. I would like to ask for your compassion to dream in dream for me. My story is as follows:

My father was born in Singburi province. When he was 10 years old his parents moved to Nakorn Sawan province where he later married my mother.

After they had two children, my father went to work at Ratjaburi province with the Water Board and took his parents and his family there. Two years later he moved his family to Phetjaboon province and worked as a water trader.

Not too long after that my grandfather suffered from stomach pang and had to have injections frequently. The sore from repetitive injections turned into abscess and he felt the pain and burning sensation all the time.

As the cause of the disease was not known, they couldn’t treat it thus he continued to suffer. Until his younger brother who was the Army doctor saw it and he perforated the infected area and discovered that there was pus inside from the hip down to the knee.

The pus was sucked out.  It was as much as a container full. He had a treatment but his condition didn’t get better. Grandfather couldn’t put up with the infection and died at the age of sixty-five.

Four years after grandfather passed away, my uncle (Father’s older brother) appeared to be possessed by a spirit, who said that he was Pu Da who was my mother’s relative.

When he was a human Pu Da was a medium healer, he was skilled in tattooing, making healing oil and healing diseases. He had many followers. He possessed uncle and asked relatives to dedicate merit to him.

The relatives then said; “you had many followers why don’t you ask them to do it for you? Pu Da said over there they don’t have any money”. Pu Da also said that my grandfather was there as well and he was sitting on the beam. Grandfather had a comfortable life unlike himself. Grandfather had a duty of recording names.

Later the village has town water supply, my father had to quit his job as a water trader and moved the family to work in Bangkok.

Four years later I had an opportunity to come to Wat Phra Dhammakaya for the first time. I accepted the Kathina batch and brought one set of robe home.

In the morning of the Kathina day while I was about to leave home to join the ceremony, suddenly my father was shaking, my mother saw it and knew that the spirit was possessing father, she then asked “Who are you” the answer was “Pu Da”. Mother then replied, “Today your granddaughter (me) is going to join in the Kathina ceremony, go with her”

Pu Da’s spirit said, “even though I go there I couldn’t get in anyway”. Mother then let father hold the set of robe and told Pu Da’s spirit to rejoice in the merit with me. After he rejoiced in the merit he left father’s body.

Later my father and grandmother had corn plantation in Chanthaburi province. They did that for one year, something unexpected happened to father. Around 8pm on that particular day, it was after work and father did the evening chanting and meditated as usual.

While he was in meditative state with a relaxed mind suddenly father appeared as if he was overpowered, he couldn’t control himself, his body was shaking as if he was possessed. He got up dancing and singing in the house.

And suddenly there was mysterious power that made father pull grandmother’s arm and father was dragged down the house with grandmother to a puddle. Father shouted on top of his voice asking for help from mother earth. He was dragged up the house and started to dance and sing again. Then grandmother fell asleep as if she was hypnotized.

But father was dragged by the arm down the house like before in the dark.  Even father couldn’t see anything but he felt that there were four black men wearing loin clothes pressing on him in all directions ( front, back, left and right).

Father was petrified and kept closing his eyes. He was dragged to the end of the area. They turned him back and ordered him to open his eyes. He didn’t dare to. They told him to reach the house before the sunrise otherwise he would die.

Out of fear father ran back with his eyes closed. All the way there was a female voice guiding him to go left or right. By the time he reached home it was light.

From then on father appeared to be possessed by a spirit. He would cause trouble and injure people, his eyes crossed and the mysterious power ordered him to plunge down the house that caused his mouth to be shattered. Four to five people tried to hold father’s arms but they couldn’t.

Father avoided eyes contact and during mealtime he would turn himself to the wall. Each time he would eat a big bowl of rice. He couldn’t sleep at all. His face was dark and shiny as if he had oil on his face. And repeatedly ordered that: “light the candle, don’t let it out. If it’s out I’ll die”

Months have passed but his condition hasn’t improved. Mother took father and grandmother to Bangkok. Three days later grandmother had diarrhea and had to be hospitalized. The next morning she was much better but when a nurse gave her an injection she died instantly.

Meanwhile at night father would sneak out of his room and walk stiffly down the stairs. He didn’t response to a call.

He would throw his necklace with Buddha lockets that he used to wear, in the toilet bowl and said that it was a bad thing. He would burn his good shoes and threw away all the watches.

Three to four months passed, my aunt took father for an ordination in Nakorn Sawan province. Three days after the ordination, while he was on the alms round and mother was going to offer alms, father kicked the rice bowl that mother was holding.

So father couldn’t remain ordained because he was not himself. He had to do whatever he was ordered. Father therefore disrobed.

One day while he was sitting doing nothing. He saw a picture of a puppet being tied with a blessed thread inside him and he saw you behind him.

You pushed your finger into his back and pulled the thread that made the puppet twirl as the thread was pulled. From then father’s condition improved but he hasn’t recovered yet.

He couldn’t eat leftovers of himself and of others because he would vomit straightaway. After his meal he couldn’t stay at home, he had to wander about like mad. He would sleep under the tree or anywhere. Relatives came to a conclusion that father was mad because of meditation.

In 1996 I casted a personal Buddha statue for myself that I paid by installments (one thousand baths a month) until I fully contributed then I casted one for mother first because I was upset with father as every time I urged father to come to the temple, he would say “They don’t let me go”.

When I fully contributed for mother, I then urged father: “Please, father let’s cast a Buddha statue”. Father agreed and contributed half with me. As we fully contributed to the casting, miraculously

There was some fluid that looked like black cooking oil from the bottom of the saucepan, which was very smelly came out of father’s anus and soiled his pant. It was so smelly that we had to throw away the pant. Then he was fully recovered and could come to the temple as usual.

But he had another symptom. He felt bloated as if he was tightened with a belt that made him feel uncomfortable. He doesn’t feel happy when meditating as he used to.

When to symptom occurred, he would lie down for a while then it would disappear. He had this for more than ten years. This has happened since the incident at the plantation. He still suffers from it to this day.

I have a cousin who is my aunt’s son. When he was alive, he liked to drink alcohol, smoke marijuana.  He ordained according to the tradition for one year then disrobed.

He, once used to throw a live turtle into a fire, when it crawled out, would throw it back into the fire again many times until it died.

Not too long after that he asked for an ordination. Three months later he asked a novice to buy two gallons of benzene. The abbot asked what he was going to do with it. He said he was going to burn a cat.

Then he collected some wood and make a pile under the banyan tree and covered it with a blanket. He put on his robe and poured the petrol all over himself and lit the fire.

He was burnt into a black stump in a meditation posture. His body slightly slanted. In the morning as relatives didn’t see him going for alms round they came and looked for him. By the time they found him he was already a corpse.

I, myself, am married to an Islamic man. He was born in Burma but came to live in Thailand since he was ten years old.

He was selling Indian pancake but at the moment he is working in a company. At first I didn’t know what his status was in that religion. I heard people called him master. When there was trouble in the Islamic community, my husband was asked to become a arbitrator.

Later I knew that he was “Toe Imam”(a headman in Islamic lore). He is very serious about his religion. His entire family is Islamic. They don’t accept Buddhism at all. Every time I mentioned about religion we would argue. Therefore, when he is home I cannot turn on the DMC. He said that if we have a son, he would make him Islamic. I therefore didn’t want to have any children and also I was afraid that it would be hard to pursue perfection.

Questions

1. What kammic retribution made my grandfather suffer from heartburn, had to have injections and that made him have a boil on the spot where he received injections and became infected then spread down to his knee until he finally died.

Where did my grandfather go after he passed away? Did he receive the merit dedicated to him?

2. Is it true that Pu Da’s spirit possessed uncle and ask for merit through the robe offering ceremony?

Did grandfather come with Pu Da’s spirit that day?

How did grandfather know Pu Da? Why did grandfather come? What was his duty?

Why did he have to sit on the beam?

3. Did Pu Da’s spirit possess father on the day that I was going to the Kathina ceremony at Wat Phra Dhammakaya? What did Pu Da want?

Why did he say that even though he followed me to the temple, he couldn’t get through anyway? Where is Pu Da at the moment and how is he?

4. Who is the mysterious man who dragged father? Whose female voice was it that guided father home safely? Was father a victim of the black magic? If so, why? Who did it?

5. Who is the person who gave father an order? Why this mysterious power didn’t like virtue such as when I urged father to come to the temple he said they didn’t want him to come, that prevented father to come to the temple for almost ten years.

They didn’t like father to do the chanting, they ordered father to throw away the chain with Buddha lockets that father had on him, into the toilet bowl. While he was ordained he kicked mother’s rice bowl and couldn’t ordain for long and had to disrobe. Will father accrue demerit with what we did as he was forced to do so?

6. What retribution made father appeared to be under somebody’s power for almost ten years? At that time why couldn’t he eat his own or someone else’s left over?

What caused the black oil coming from father’s anus? Did father recover because of the casting of the personal Buddha statue?

7. What kammic retribution made father suffer from heartburn, which became an obstacle for his meditation. How can father recover?

8. Where did grandmother go after she passed away? Did she receive the merit that I casted the Buddha statue for her? After the casting, I dreamed of her, was it because she came into my dream? As before that I never dreamed of her even though I really missed her.

9. What kammic retribution made my aunt’s son burn himself to death while he was a monk and in meditation posture? Where did he go after he passed away?

10. How did my husband and I relate and why are we husband and wife with different faith? Does he have merit link with the community? What can I do for him to gain faith and make merit with the community?

11. How did my parents and I pursue perfection with the community?

Most respectfully yours.

Luang Phaw's Dream

I closed my eyes, dreamed and woke up with these answers.
When you tell anybody the story like a tale, it will make anyone know more about retribution (Law of Kamma)

1. Grandfather suffer from heartburn and had to have injections that caused the boil at the injection spot, it became infected and spread down to his knee and finally died due to the kamma in the past life when he was born in an agricultural society.  He had a fight with a man from the same village. Grandfather used the sword to stab that man in the stomach until he died and combining with the fact that he used spears to catch fish for food. These two misdeeds came to fruition.

  • After grandfather died he was reborn as a normal level earth sprite. He has received the merit dedicated to him and his situation has improved in every way.

2. Your uncle was possessed by Pu Da’s spirit and asked for the merit from the robe offering, this was due to his mental illness resulting from the drinking alcohol and his belief in medium in the past life. The kamma came to fruition.

3. The day you joined in the Kathina at Wat Phra Dhammakaya. Pu Da’s spirit didn’t possess father but it was a symptom of mental illness like your uncle had, due the kamma from drinking alcohol and the belief in medium and black magic came to fruition! In that life your father and uncle were siblings and urged each other to drink alcohol and believe in medium. But in that life your father drunk more alcohol and have more faith in medium than your uncle!

4. All the above symptoms that your father had for almost ten years were the symptoms of mental illness due to the above mentioned misdeeds!

  • The black fluid that came out was the waste inside the body due to the imbalance of elements and father felt better due to the merit from casting the personal Buddha statue but the kamma has not exhausted!

5. The heartburn that father felt until it became an obstacle for his meditation is due to the imbalance of the elements in the body. The food was not properly digested that made the wind flushed upward. These due to the kamma from killing animals for food and that he hired someone to perform black magic to his enemy in the past life!

  • Father should make every merit and release live animals and fish, do the chanting but he shouldn’t meditate because he still has mental illness from the past kamma. As he does that frequently, he will gradually get better!

6. After your grandmother passed away, she was reborn as an earth sprite in the same earth sprite village as your grandfather.
  • She has received the merit dedicated to her and that improved her situation in every way.
  • You dreamed of your grandmother because you dedicate the merit to her and your “attachment to her” that you missed her made you dream of her!

7. Your aunt’s son burned himself being a monk in meditation posture due to the killing kamma in the past and present lives. In the past life he was ordained as a novice and got angry at a cat that came to urinate on the roof and ate the food it also scratched him many times when he caught it.
  • He then wrapped it with monk’s robe and burned it, and also as he burned live turtle in this life and grilled live animals for food. These kammas came to fruition.

  • After he passed away, he became a wandering spirit and he is still confused. He is not reborn yet and still roaming around!

8. You and your husband have different beliefs and live together because you were husband and wife in the past life and believed in theology.
  • Later you met a kalayanamitta who urged you to pursue perfection with the community, you then converted to Buddhism. But after you made merit, you didn’t resolved properly combining with the little merit from inviting people to do good deeds.
  • As you met your husband in this life you became husband and wife again. But your husband still believes in theology.

  • Your husband has a slight merit connection with the community because he has strayed away for many eons.
  • And during that time he believed in theology and this has been profoundly inculcated in his mind and that would be hard for him to be urged to pursue perfection with the community!

9.    You and your parents pursued perfection with the community as supporters in the provision section. You and your mother did more than the others.

  • This life as you’ve met the community, be determined to pursue perfection with all your strength in every merit and resolve to follow the community to Tusita (the Fourth level of heaven), the special merit zone, the Borom Bodhisatwa area and never stray away from it!
