How does the morning alms offering ceremony benefit to the economy?
From the success of the morning alms offering to 500,000 monks in 76 provinces across Thailand Project, now it extends to be the morning alms offering to 1,000,000 monks in 76 provinces Project. Today DMC News has the clips of one of these ceremonies. Today the flash flood had inundated in many villages in Nan province, it caused the losses in properties and mind of the residents and temples. So the Most Ven. Phrarajbhavanavisudh, the abbot of Dhammakaya Temple, assigned his disciples to help the victims as soon as they can. They gave rice, dried food and utensils to the monks and resident in the trouble areas.
In the four unrest Southern provinces in Thailand, rice, dried food and alms from this project will be distributed to 226 temples, the Buddhist congregations, soldiers and police. This project and the previous project are initiated by the Most Ven. Phrarajbhavanavisudh and they are two of the World Moral Restoration Projects. The projects have arranged for 6 years.
So far, the morning alms offering ceremony does not only encourage the victims’ minds and distribute rice, dried food and alms to the trouble in the unrest provinces, it has taken part of the economic stimuli. The wholesale companies such as Tesco Lotus Plc, The Mall Group, commented that the morning alms offering is the exchange by trading, the buyers get merit, the sellers sell their goods from many factories. All of them are win-win.
Mr. Sakchai Peechapat
Mr. Sakchai Peechapat, a Tisco Bank senior executive vice-president, gave interesting information that the morning alms offering ceremony is able to restore the moral in the country and it also makes the national reconciliation. The morning alms offering ceremony is the mental-economic balancing activity. It also makes the national reconciliation because Thailand is the Buddhist country and the nice custom Thai people have done for a long time is offering.
