Meditation for BeginnersCore Value# 10: Wise enlightened ones existinsight into the true nature of the worldIf someone whose mind has been illuminated by a proper understanding of the nine previous sorts of core value has the chance to meet up with a wise ‘good friend ‘ [kalyanamitta], they will appreciate how the level of illumination in their ownn mind has increased as the result of behaviour. They will appreciate thought, that if they were to practise strictly, continuously and earnestly according to the guidelines laid down by the Lord Buddha, apart from an increased purity of body, speech and mind, the inner brightness will be magnified to the extent that they will be able to penetrate the real truths of the world as is encapsulated by the word ,insinght, [vipassana].If someone whose mind has been illuminated by a proper understandingBefore long, those who reflect in tbe way mentioned will come to the conclusion that properly practising monks who purify their body, speech and mind to the extent that there are no remaining defilements in the mind, have minds that are supremely bright, giving rise to insight into the true nature of the world – and that once such insight has arisen for a monk, they will be able to teach others to do the same, Accepting that it is possible for such teachers to arise in the world, put another way, is to accept that it is possible for a Buddha (enlightened one) to arise in the world. Even for a person to accept that someone else might be purer, or more spiritually gifted than themselves, already opens the door to spiritual advancement, allowing us to walk the same path walked by the Buddha and to realize our real purpose in life.Accepting the reality of Buddhahood is also to accept that the Buddha has true knowledge, corresponding to all the forgoing nine forms of Right View-because if the Buddha’s knowledge was not true, he would not have the ability to teach others in a way which is a spiritual breaktherough unrivalled by any other of the spiritual traditions before the Buddha or since.Those realizing this fact will have no further doubt about the existence of the Lord Buddha.
Furthermore, an understanding of the world in keeping with positive core values (and all the other teachings of the Lord Buddha) is something that can only arise as a result of the utmost devotion in cultivation and study of the mind as exemplified by the lord Buddha himself. Those realizing this fact will have no further doubt about the existence of the Lord Buddha.Correct reflection upon all ten forms of Right View, apart from leading to steadfast faith in the existence of the Lord Buddha, will lead to an instant realization of one’s purpose in life. It will be immediately apparent to one that one has not be born merely to use up the retribution of karmic actions committed in previous lives as is often misunderstood.
