University College Cork.
Compiled from the Inner Dreams Kindergarten

There are only two days left before we will get to see scholars from both the East and the West work together to search for evidence of the original Buddhism teachings. The original Buddhism teachings will be the path providing true inner peace. This program was founded by an English PhD graduate, Dr. Kate Crosby. She has finished her doctoral degree majoring in Buddhism from Oxford University. Moreover, she has already done over 20 years of research works on Buddhism. From her research, she has discovered much beneficial knowledge concerning Buddhism such as the relationship between meditation and Science, Mathematics, Medicine, and Pharmacy. We can conclude that “the full studies of will bring to us the understanding of life that will benefit all mankind.” For example, to answer the question, “Why does the mind of those who meditate define women as going through the left nose, and men going through the right nose when implanting themselves in the mother’s womb,” one can understand it by true knowledge of Buddhism.

Dr. Kate Crosby

Dr. Kate Crosby is committed to the academic path of Buddhism for over 20 years. Currently, she is working in the position of Assistant Professor of Religion at King’s College London. Because she had known some Thai students 9 years ago, she discovered the Dhammakaya Temple in London and had joined our merit-seeking since the year 2010. That was the beginning of the search for the collaboration of Wat Phra Dhammakaya with different institutions in England for further research in the original Buddhism teachings of Lord Buddha and other evidences of Buddhism teachings after the Lord Buddha’s departure from this world. Dr. Kate sees that, “Wat Phra Dhammakaya is opens for further Buddhism research funding.” Therefore, Dr. Kate Crosby is willing to work as a consultant and the contact person for many of England’s institutions such as Oxford University, King’s College London, and University College Cork to receive further research funding from Wat Phra Dhammakaya. The topic that the 3 universities have chosen to receive further research funding from Wat Phra Dhammakaya is called “Theravada Buddhism: Continuity and Diversity.” Out of these 3 universities, two of them are very famous and well-known as part of the world’s leading universities. They are Oxford University and King’s College London.

Oxford University was founded in 1096, which was 915 years ago.  Oxford University has been the leader of Buddhist studies in the West. Moreover, they have opened Buddhist languages courses such as Bali and Sanskrit. Additionally, many famous scholars in Europe and Asia have studied at Oxford. The Bodleian library at Oxford has compiled many old Buddhist scriptures.

The second institution that has received funding from Wat Phra Dhammakaya is King’s College London. King’s College London is famous around the world, and is well known for many of its excellent academic fields such as Medicine, Science, Philosophy, and its long history of research on religions. In the past, Buddhism was taught as one of the courses, but in the last 7 years, this field has been closed down from lack of expertise and teaching in this area until now. Nowadays, the researchers of these three institutions have collaborated together to study under this project. Now, courses in Buddhism have been brought back to these schools again.

Representatives from the three institutions will come to sign a “Memorandum of Understanding” academic work at Wat Phra Dhammakaya on Saturday of 27th August, 2011. This meeting will take place between 9:00 am – 10:30 am in SPD 7 room. You are all invited to come and rejoice in the merit for those representatives that will take this dedication.

For more information: Oxford University is located Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. It is the oldest university in the United Kingdom. There is no clear evidence for the creation history of Oxford University, but there is evidence that Oxford has been opened since 1096. In the year 1167, which was after King Henry II of England forbidden the English to study at Paris University, English students and scholars in various fields were brought together to form the city of Oxford. The Oxford University then arose and grew rapidly under the patronage and financial support from the wealthy English. It is likely that the year of 1167 marked the beginning of Oxford University.
