What is Buddhism ? พระพุทธศาสนา คือ อะไร ?

First of all, you should tell them the overview of Buddhism. Buddhism is the religion of truth because the Lord Buddha attained enlightenment to see through the truth of life and the universe by meditation. ศาสนาพุทธเป็นศาสนาแห่งสัจธรรมความจริงแท้ เพราะว่าพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าได้ตรัสรู้ธรรมเห็นตลอดถึงความจริงของชีวิตและจักรวาลด้วยการฝึกสมาธิ

Universe = จักรวาล

Then you can tell them more about the origino of Buddhism by saying, "Buddhism is a religion based on the teachings of Buddha who lived in India more than 2,500 years ago." พระพุทธศาสนา เป็นศาสนาที่อยู่บนพื้นฐานคำสอนของพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้า ผู้อาศัยอยู่ในประเทศอินเดียกว่า 2,500 ปีที่ผ่านมา

The essence of Buddhism is freedom from suffering. Buddhism is a practical, logical, scientific and broad-minded religion. It is not a religion based on blind faith, superstition, guilt, or fear. สิ่งสำคัญของพระพุทธศาสนา คือ ความพ้นทุกข์ พระพุทธศาสนาเป็นศาสนาของการปฏิบัติ มีเหตุมีผลเป็นวิทยาศาสตร์ และเป็นศาสนาที่ในกว้าง ซึ่งไม่อยู่บนพื้นฐานของความเชื่ออย่างไร้เหตุผลเชื่อสิ่งงมงาย ความละอาย หรือ ความกลัว

Broad - minded = ใจกว้าง

Superstition = ความเชื่องมงาย, เชื่อไสยศาสตร์

Buddha encourages everypne to be neutral, not to believe or disbelieve until something is proven to be true or false. พระพุทธเจ้าสนับสนุนให้บุคคลมีความเป็นกลางอย่าเพิ่งเชื่อหรือไม่เชื่อ จนกว่าจะได้รักการพิสูจน์ว่าจริง หรือไม่จริง

Encourage = ส่งเสริม, สนับสนุน

Neutral = เป็นกลาง

Buddhism encourages self-reliance and self-liberation through good deeds. พระพุทธศาสนาสนับสนุนให้เชื่อมั่นในตัวเอง และการหลุดพ้นเป็นอิสระด้วยการกระทำดีของเราเอง

Reliance = ความไว้วางใจ. ความเชื่อถือ

Liberation = การหลุดพ้น, การปลดปล่อย

And the most important things is although Buddhism is one of world's oldest religions, its principles and teachings are still modern and practical in all situations. และสิ่งสำคัญคือ แม้ว่าพระพุทธศาสนาจะเป็นหนึ่งในศาสนาที่เก่าแก่ที่สุด แต่หลักการ และคำสอนยังคงเข้ายุคสมัยและใช้ได้ในทุกสถานการณ์

Principle = หลักการ

Practical = ใช้ได้จริง

Buddhism is a religion of peace, harmony and loving-kindness. Buddhists have never gone to war in the name of religion. พระพุทธศาสนา เป็นศาสนาแห่งสันติภาพความสามัคคีปรองดองและความรักความเมตตา ชาวพุทธไม่เคยทำสงครามศาสนาใดๆ เลย

Harmony = ความสามัคคี, ความปรองดอง

Buddhists accept the view of the universe that time is not linear but circular. Consequently, at a [artocilar point, nor will it be completely destroyed at another. ชาวพุทธยอมรับแนวความคิดสากลที่ว่าเวลานั้นไม่ได้เดินทางเป็นเส้นตรง แต่เคลื่อนที่เป็นวงกลม ดังนั้นจักรวาลไม่ได้ถูกสร้างขึ้นจากความว่างเปล่าอย่างเฉพาะเจาะจง และไม่ได้ถูกทำลายอย่างสมบูรณ์โอยสิ่งอื่น

Linear = เป็นเส้นตรง

Circular = เคลื่อนที่เป็นวงกลม

Destroy = ทำลาย

However, it goes through endless cycles of creation and destruction, over and over again. อย่างไรก็ตาม มันดำเนินเป็นวัฏจักรแห่งการสร้างและทำลายอันไม่มีที่สิ้นสุด เกิดขึ้นซ้ำๆ อน่างนี้เรื่อยไป
