If Dr. K is the legend of a slum boy who is successful in life because he loves to make merit, learn, is patient and a dream seeker, I, Mr. Ditthapong Roengritthidech, am the successor who makes the ascendant’s dream come true. Even if I am not as famous as Mr. K but I am sure that everybody will say “Oh! I know” when I tell you that I am the inheritor of Siam Tea Co., ltd., who sells “NUMBER ONE BRAND Thai Tea” or “Cha Tar Mua” in Thai. I saw my father selling tea since after the World War II. In that time it was well–known and sold very well. It was as popular as Nature Gift coffee nowadays. But after that our business was down and the sale was less.
I went to Dhammakaya Temple in the first time in 1985 because I had listened to the 38 Ways to Happiness tapes which Luang Phaw Dattajeevo taught. When I had listened to them completely, I drove and searched Dhammakaya Temple immediately and then I made merit at once. Unfortunately, after that I had rarely gone to the temple because I had to drive from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai and vice versa. I had to drive about ten hours for my business. While I was driving, I listened to the 38 Ways to Happiness all the times. I like Luang Phaw Dattajeevo’s teaching most because he can teach very well and entertaining. For me, listening to music is not as much entertaining as listening to his sermon. I have applied Dhamma in daily life since I had listened to the 38 Ways to Happiness.

I have handled my business fully since 1997. I have my vision like the new generation and intend to develop and expand my business. I have made a wish that I would like the NUMBER ONE BRAND Thai tea is sold well around the world during my times. So I have a plan that I have to make merit along with doing business. My tip is having more merit to support me. Therefore I began to save some money to make merit with other temples every year. In 1985, the first year I went to the temple, I donated 2,000 Baht. After that I doubled my donation to be 4,000 Baht and 8,000 Baht in the two coming years. My attitude is if I can double or make more merit, it means I am better and so is my business. It is amazing that which year I donated more than I had planned, that year I got money more than I had planned too.
In 2004, my only son was 15 years old. I would like him to be ordained as a novice. He agreed with me but I had to buy a drum set for him. When my wife asked me that where he should be ordained and I answered immediately that it must only be Dhammakaya Temple. Later, I go to the temple more frequently and am impressed all works of the temple very much especially the worldwide Dhamma and Buddhism dissemination. It really touches my heart. This year, 2010, my son undergraduate and I told him to be ordained before working because the ordination will give merit to him. So he has ordained a monk in the 100,000-monk Mass Ordination during the Buddhist Lent 2010 Project.

I and my family have gone to the temple regularly since my son had ordained. I like to double my donation or donate more than I planned. It is my merit-making style. Every time I do, every time I am very, very happy. It is so good that I can make merit as I have a plan every year. It is wonderful that the more I donated, the more benefit from NUMBER ONE BRAND Thai tea during my times is double or much more as well.
In 2009 my double donation goal was 5 million Baht. When Luang Phaw had persuaded to make the Kathina merit, I decided immediately to offer at the level of one golden sheet. Later, Luang Phaw announced via DMC that Luang Phaw would like to restore the world moral by arranging the 1,000,000-monk Mass Ordination and the 1,000,000-laywoman Mass Training Projects; I decided to offer 10 million Baht, which I had planned to expand my business, to make the Master Nun’s Kathina merit at once. Dear Luang Phaw, I am so happy because I had discussed with my wife and we agree accordingly that our business was able to be delayed but the Buddhist business must not be delayed.

After that the miracle happened and made me smile all the year. My tea sale was increasing rapidly in 2009. The NUMBER ONE BRAND Thai tea was so hit and hot that a country, which had never imported any tea, contacted us back and identified particularly to order only the NUMBER ONE BRAND Thai tea in big lots.

In this year when Luang Phaw has announced the 101-year Master Nun’s Kathina and would like to establish the Worldwide Dhammakaya Vijja Dissemination Fund. I had consulted with my wife and children; we decided immediately to donate 10 million Baht. When we heard that Luang Phaw will give the special batch of the small Buddha image and the Master Nun Chand’s last batch of crystal balls to each donator as gifts and reminders, we are very happy. The small Buddha image is made out of the marvelous gemstone which the Master Nun inserted the invisible, holy Dhammakaya inside. The Master Nun’s crystal ball is very holy and many people have experienced its holiness. So when I receive these very holy gifts, how lucky I am. I have intended to keep them as my family’s holy properites and give them for my children and grandchildren as well.
