The Kathina Ceremony in an unrest province

Countdown to the 5th V–Star Day at the Meditation Square around the Maha Dhammakaya Cetiya on Saturday December 11th, 2010, the kind adults from each region will attend the V–Guide Seminar to welcome 1,000,000 V–Star children. The seminar will be held on Saturday December 4th, 2010 at 9.00 a.m. Please come to attend in this seminar to be the host who shine the light leading the 1,000,000 V–Star children. Now turn to see the trend of Kathina Ceremony. Since Khunkru Maiyai has arranged the Great Indefinitely Offering to 286 temples in four unrest Southern provinces in Thailand and giving the supporting fund for teachers in four unrest Southern provinces as well for 5 years. These encourage the monks and teachers there having more willpower to resist and protect the Buddhism. Also, they have cultivated the youths to be the leaders of World Morality Restoration, especially during the Kathina Offering Times. The students who are the members of Buddhist Society in Rajabhat Yala University in Yala province arranged the Kathina Ceremony together at Khlongchang Temple in Coke–pho district, Pattani province. Miss Boonyada Thanoo–in was the president of Kathina Ceremony. It also was the First Kathina Ceremony of Khlongchang Temple because this temple has just been registered as the Temple since July, 2010 after it had been the Monastic Residence for 18 years.

Before this ceremony happened, these students had helped the coordinator teacher to prepare the V–Star Project in Yala province continuously. There were many students from many institutes volunteering to be the teacher assistants, especially from Rajabhat Yala University. Ms. Narudee Nate–sopha or Arjan Mam, the lecturer of Rajabhat Yala University is the coordinating teacher of V–Star Project in Yala.

Arjan Mam said that “I had seen the V–Stars in other places performing the Kathina Ceremony actively but it had been rarely seen in the Southern provinces because of the danger and terrorism. Even if the children would like to do good deeds or performed the Kathina Ceremony, they half–feared and half–dared to do. Today the IBS students of Rajabhat Yala University gathered to perform the Kathina Ceremony and wanted them to be the good models for the V–Star children that although our province is unrest, we can do it. We are successful in arranging this ceremony. The children woke and were active. We would like to confirm that we keep protecting the Buddhism and will not move to anywhere. We will bet with our lives to do this work.”
The Rajabhat students are the leader of World Morality Restoration by visiting the temple regularly.
Before the Ceremony day, the students of Rajabhat Yala University came together to develop the temple with happy mind. When the teachers and V–Star in Coke–pho district had known about that, they were very happy and tell one another that “On November 20th, 2010, there will be the First Kathina Ceremony at Khlongchang Temple and the kind students of Rajabhat Yala University will be the presidents. Also, they will come to develop the Temple before the Ceremony Day.”
The students of Rajabhat Yala University are the teacher assistants who restore the World Morality to the children there.
After the residents in Coke–pho district had known this good news, their hidden powers were waken again. The children persuaded their parents to help the Rajabhat students to develop the temple actively. The kind adults came together to cook food for the children and people who came to develop the temple. This event also made the head of the village being happy and joyful and unveiled that “I have never seen the event like this before. It’s wonderful that more children in village visit the temple and I want to see it every year.”

On the Ceremony Day, people from all directions came to the Khlongchang Temple with the steadfast mind. They would like to make the big merit with the Rajabhat students including Mr. Niphon Intrasakul, the Coke–pho sheriff. When the sheriff knew that the children would be the president of Kathina Ceremony, he came to see the students preparing the ceremony without informing anyone in advance. The sheriff said proudly that “It was the peaceful and ordering ceremony and the atmosphere was very sacred. I wish all the temples in Pattani province to imitate it as the good model.”
The students from many educational institutes are cleaning and developing the temple.
Even though it was the First Kathina Ceremony of Khlongchang Temple, everything went on smoothly. Leading by the students of Rajabhat Yala University, they could collect the Kathina Fund about 300,000 Baht. It brought the happiness and joy to all attendants and inspired many V–Star children wanting to be the president of Kathina like the Rajabhat students.
The children are happily helping the Rajabhat students developing the temple.
