The Schedule of Vesak Day
Tuesday May 17th, 2011
 


Vesak Day is the day which we, the four Buddhist communities, should persuade people to remind of the Lord Buddha and his perfection pursuance since the first day until the last day.  We should study his Dharma which is the light guiding their lives in the right way and shining way to the heaven and Nirvana.  Moreover, we should come together to meditate to attain Dhammakaya which is the body of enlightenment.  We should find a chance to light the lantern and circumambulate clockwise around the Buddhist pagoda to worship the Lord Buddha.  The outside is bright by the candle light; the inside is bright by Dharma light.

The morning ceremonies
6.40 a.m.    The morning alms round in the Master Nun’s Bankaewruanthong area
9.30 a.m.    Meditation
11.00 a.m.   The indefinite monastic meal offering
11.15 a.m.    End of the morning ceremonies

The afternoon ceremonies
In the International Dhammakaya Meditation Hall
1.30 p.m.    Meditation
                       The donation ceremony
2.30 p.m.    End of the afternoon ceremonies in the International Dhammakaya Meditation Hall



In the Main Buddhist Chapel area, Dhammakaya Temple
2.00 p.m.    The ceremony of offering the monastic robe sets and bowls to the novices in the Dusita Hall
2.30 p.m.    The Novice Ordination Ceremony in the chapel
3.45 p.m.    End of the ceremonies in the Main Buddhist Chapel area

The congregations can watch the Novice Ordination on CCTV and LED TV in the International Dhammakaya Meditation Hall.

The Evening Ceremonies
5.45 p.m.    The Vesak lantern lighting ceremony and the clockwise circumambulation around Dhammakaya Cetiya
7.45 p.m.    End of the evening ceremonies
9.00 p.m.    The monks determine their precepts at the main chapel

Please wear the white suit or at least the white shirt to attend the ceremonies to worship the Lord Buddha together.  Rejoice in your merit.
