News about the Ancient Buddhist City “Mes Aynak” Protection


The Most Ven. Phradhamkittivong, the Royal Scholar and abbot of Raja-orasaram Temple, was the President in the meeting and panel discussion of the ancient Buddhist city “Mes Aynak” protection

The Most Ven. Phradhamkittivong, the Royal Scholar and abbot of Raja-orasaram Temple, was the President in the meeting of the ancient Buddhist city “Mes Aynak” protection since the Magha Puja Day at the National Assembly Hall, the House of Representatives, the room No. 213 – 216, 2nd Floor, Bangkok.  Ms. Nadia Tarzi, the Executive Director and Founder for the Association for the Protection of Afghan Archaeology, and Dr. Royce Wiles, Specialist educator, researcher and bibliographer focused on the traditions and religions of (South) Asia, gave a lecture about the progress of protecting the ancient Buddhist city “Mes Aynak” since Magha Puja Day.  There were many experts attending in this meeting and panel discussion.


The objective of the meeting was to give knowledge to Buddhists and general people about the Buddhist City “Mes Aynak”

The Most Ven. Prof. Dr. Phra Brahmapundit (Prayoon Dhammacitto) who is the Chief Abbot of Wat Prayurawongsawat, Rector of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Ecclesiastical Governor of Region II, and a member of the Secretariat to the Executive Committee for the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, kindly read the letter of the Most Ven. Somdej Phra Buddhacharn, the President of the Executive Committee for the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand.  The Most Ven. Phrakrupaladnayokvoravat Sudham Sudhammo, the Assistant Abbot of Dhammakaya Temple, the President of Oceania Region, read the letter of the Most Ven. Phrathepyanmahamuni, the abbot of Dhammakaya Temple.  The objective of this meeting and panel discussion was to give the knowledge to Buddhists and general people about the ancient Buddhist city “Mes Aynak” and the copper mining project in Afghanistan.  They also collected comments from the experts, academics, and youths about the protection of ancient Buddhist city “Mes Aynak” to propose to those who concern.
