Merit and Sin บุญ และ บาป

Actually, I prefer to say Boon and Baap because in English we don't have an exact translation. For example; First, we can talk about what Boon and baap means in Buddhism. อยากจะใช้คำทับศัพท์ว่า "บุญและบาป"มากว่า"Merit and Sin"เพราะว่าโดยความหมายแล้วไม่สามารถจะใช้แทนกันได้ตรงๆ เรามาเริ่มต้นอธิบายกันว่า อะไรคือ บุญ และบาปกันก่อน

Baap is unclean or impure energy, which is created when a person engages in bad or dishonest with others, which gives rise to negative results and suffering in this life and the accumulation of bad "Karma" that is carried into the next life. บาปเป็น ความไม่ใสสะอาด หรือ เป็นพลังงานไม่บริสุทธิ์ที่เกิดขึ้นเมื่อบุคคลได้ทำความชั่ว หรือ ไม่ซื้อตรงต่อผู้อื่น ซึ่งเป็นการก่อผลในทางลบ และความทุกข์ในชีวิต การสั่งสมบาปนั้นยังส่งผลไปถึงภพชาติหน้า

Dishonest = ไมซื่อตรง

Accumulation = การสั่งสม

Boon is a blessing or pure power to overcome disadvantages or difficulties, even sufferings. It is purity and may dispel all the nature of defilement, restoring harmony to the mind, with the result of unshakable happiness and contentment. บุญ คือ ความดีงาม หรือ พลังงานบริสุทธิ์ที่สามารถเอาชนะสิ่งไม่ดีและความทุกข์ยากทั้งปวง เป็นความบริสุทธิ์ และสามารถขจัดธรรมชาติของกิเลสได้ก่อให้เกิดความสมดุลของจิตใจและมีผลลัพธ์คือความสุขที่มั่นคง และความสบายใจ

Overcome = การเอาชนะ

Harmony = ความสมดุล, สามัคคี

Contentment = ความสบายใจ

We feel its presence in happiness, contentment and fulfillment that arises in our emotions when its powerful influences are evoked and applied in our daily lives. เราจะรู้สึกเป็นสุขในปัจจุบัน สบายใจ เต็มอิ่มอยู่ในอารมณ์ และจะมีพลังในการดำรงชีวิตในทุกๆ วัน

Fulfillment = การเติมเต็ม

Influences = อำนาจ, อิทธิพล

The Boon we create and accumulate in our lives energizes and protects us, it always present itself as a guardian shadow from lifetime to lifetime. บุญที่เราได้ทำ และสั่งสมในชีวิตของเราจะเป็นพลังปกป้องเราตลอดเวลาในปัจจุบัน เป็นประดุจเงาของผู้พิทักษ์จากภพชาติหนึ่งสู่ภาพชาติต่อๆ ไป

Protect = ปกป้อง

Guardian = ผู้พิทักษ์, ผู้ปกป้อง

Shadow = เงา

Once Baap is committed it never disappears but there's a way to lighten the weight of the consequences. ลักษณะของบาปนั้น เมื่อได้ทำแล้วจะไม่มีวันหายไปไหน แต่มีหนทางที่จะทำให้ผลที่จะได้รับเบาบางลงได้

Consequences = ผลลัพธ์

This interesting analogy will illustrate this principle. Take a glass of water and put a tablespoon of salt into the glass. The water is extremely salty, isn't it ? If you mix this glass of water into a full five gallon jug as used in common water coolers, it will taste slightly salty, if at all. มีตัวอย่าง นำแก้วใส่น้ำมาใบหนึ่ง และใส่เกลือลงไป 1 ช้อนโต๊ะ น้ำนั้นจะเค็มมาก แต่ถ้าเราให้น้ำไปสัก 5 แกลลอน รสเค็มในน้ำนั้นก็จะเบาบางลง

Illustrate = แสดงตัวอย่าง

Tablespoon = ช้อนโต๊ะ

Now, put that container of water into perhaps a fifty-five (55) gallon drum and that additional water will remove almost all the actual taste of any salt. The original salt content still remains but it's no longer distinguished by its taste as salt. This analogy represente0d the diluted sin minimized by the massive amounts of merit. แล้วถ้าเราใส่น้ำลงไปสัก 55 แกลลอน รสเค็มในน้ำเกือบจะไม่มีรสเลย เกลือที่มีในน้ำยังคงอยู่ แต่ไม่ส่งผล คือ รสเค็มอีกต่อไป

Distinguish = เด่นชัด

Dilute = เจือจาง, เบาบาง

Massive = ใหญ่โต, ปริมาณมาก

Accruing merit is the same as adding pure water to a contaminated life, cleansing it and making it fruitful. การสั่งสมบุญ มีความหมายเดียวกันกับการเติมน้ำเปล่า ลงไปในสิ่งที่ปนเปื้อนมาในชีวิตเพื่อชำระล้าง และส่งผลที่ดีอย่างมากมาย

Accrue = เพิ่มขึ้น

Contaminate = สิ่งปนเปื้อน

Fruitful = ผลอุดมสมบูรณ์

Thus, one should refrain from all unwholesomeness completely and accrue as much merit as we can. เราควรจะหลีกเลี่ยงจากความเสื่อมเสียต่อศีลธรรมอย่างเด็ดขาด และเพิ่มพูนบุญกุศล ให้มากเท่าที่เราจะทำได้

Unwholesomeness = ความเสื่อมเสียต่อศีลธรรม

Phra Thepyanmahamuni, the abbo of Dhammakaya Temple continually advise us to learn, "To forget one's committed sins and cease and desist from committing new ones any longer.". พระเดขพระคุณพระเทพญาณมหามุนี หลวงพ่อธัมมชโย เจ้าอาวาสวัดพระธรรมกาย ได้ให้คำแนะนำ พวกเราให้รู้ว่า ควรจะลืมบาปไปให้หมด และหยุดทำความชั่วใด้ๆ อีกต่อไป

Frim now on, one should try to willfully and deliberately accumulate only merit as much as possible so that the power fo your accrued merit becomes far stronger than the fruit of the sin committed. จากนี้เป็นต้นไปเราควรที่จะพยายามสั่งสมบุญด้วยความตั้งใจเต็มใจจริงๆ เท่าที่จะเป็นไปได้ เพื่อที่ว่า พลังแห่งบุญจะมีมากกว่าผลแห่งบาปที่เราได้กระทำไว้

Deliberate = ทำอย่างตั้งใจ

Good results will follow from good actions, and a person who performs good deeds with a "good" mind will have a favorable destination in the afterlife. ผลแห่งความดีจากการกระทำที่ดี และบุคคลผู้ทำควาาดี ด้วยใจที่ผ่องใสจะมีหนทางแห่งความสุขเมื่อละโลกไปแล้ว

Performs = การกระทำ. ปฏิบัติ

Destination = จุดหมายปลายทาง
